Chris and I will be spending the next week in Ashland, OR. If you haven't been, it's a little town just north of the California/Oregon border. It's also the first place we visited as a married couple. We get so much pleasure from visiting this groovy mountain town that we've made it a yearly tradition. It's important to do things just for the sake of pleasure. I used to think that I had to earn the right to relax and have fun but it's just not true. Dr. Mario Martinez did a study on different Centenarians around the world and found fascinating similarities - including that fact that they all had one pleasurable ritual each day! Lemme emphasize that the purpose of the study was to find commonalities in people who have lived to be over 100 and are still thriving. Hello! Moving through your week can feel challenging. I invite you to consider incorporating a daily ritual that brings you pleasure. No need to overthink this one. What's something you enjoy doing? It can be as simple as having a bite of something sweet or reading a chapter in a book. I take a bath almost every day - it's my pleasure ritual (and it's totally easy to do). Reserve time each day to pause and treat yourself to something you like... because you deserve it! Taking a moment and remind yourself that you are LOVED. It's so beneficial and apparently an ingredient in living a long and fulfilling life.
*Check out the video below - it's Dr. Christiane Northrup explaining the Dr. Martinez's study - I find it super interesting and very helpful.
